Trauma Remains one of the most challenging aspects of orthopaedic surgery. The number of vehicular accidents has increased exponentially. The high velocity accidents present challenging situations. Patients often have a combination of head injury, abdominal injury and fractures. It is imperative to have a team approach in such situations to optimize patient’s recovery and rehabilitation.

We have been the leading trauma unit in the region since the last 30 years. Dr Ajay Shah was one of the first surgeons in the city to start percutaneous nailing techniques in the early 1990’s. Our current team has highly skilled and trained surgeons who have a vast experience in trauma surgeries.

Availability of world class Implants and cutting edge technology enables us to give good results particularly in complex cases. We have been constantly upgrading our trauma systems and have incorporated latest techniques of fracture fixation like MIPPO (minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis) and INTEX augmentation (Internal plus External). Use of Titanium implants, Locking Plates and Helical blades have improved fracture fixation dramatically.

A lot of geriatric patients (above the age of 80years) and patients with multiple medical problems (diabetes, hypertension, heart problems) suffer fractures. Special medical care is taken, and our expert anesthesia team ensures a safe and smooth surgery in this high risk patient group.

The scope of Trauma surgeries is extended to

    • Pelvic acetabular fractures
    • Compound Hand injuries (caused in industries and machine trauma)
    • Paediatric fractures
    • Complex periarticular injuries
    • Scapulothoracic injuries
